Legacy Windows questions answered
General
Our installation methods and materials are designed for long-term performance. Manufacturer warranties apply when installation guidelines are followed correctly. While products like paint have limited warranties, typically 10–15 years, our installation practices are focused on longevity and proper sealing.
New construction windows typically last 10–20 years, depending on the material, installation quality, climate, and maintenance. In many cases, the installation quality has as much impact on lifespan as the window itself. Sometimes new construction windows fail early on in the 5-10 year mark. This can be because of installation error or low quality materials used. Also, sometimes the house will settle after it is built and this will cause stress on the frames which causes stress on the glass and causes broken seals. It can also cause the windows to be harder to open and close because of the home settling.
Windows are custom-manufactured products designed to last decades. Pricing reflects the cost of materials, energy-efficient glass, custom sizing, skilled labor, proper installation, warranties, and long-term performance. Higher-quality windows typically cost more upfront but provide better durability, comfort, and energy savings over time.
